Scaling and polishing

Yes. Your teeth do appear brighter after removing the stain. However, if you want a better result that goes beyond your natural tooth colour, you will need a separate whitening treatment.

Whitening

Teeth whitening is a cosmetic dental procedure that lightens the natural colour of your teeth and removes stains or discoloration — making your smile look brighter and more attractive.
There are In-office whitening, internal bleaching and take- home kits.
In- office whitening is done by professional dentist with the use of 35% hydrogen peroxide which give you immediate result.
Internal bleaching is used in necrotic tooth which has been RCT-treated.
While for Home kits whitening, there will be custom-made tray with lower concentration of whitening gel. Result appears gradually after 1-2 weeks.
Teeth whitening is safe when done correctly — especially under the supervision of a dentist.
However, like any dental procedure, it can have temporary side effect like teeth sensitivity, which usually fade in 2-3 days.
Shade improvement differs from person to person. It is affected by your natural tooth colour, type of stain, method and product strength, and your care after whitening. However, it is safe to expect 4 to 5 shades improvement.
Express whitening: 6 months
Full treatment whitening: 1-1.5 years with proper maintenance.
